Pensecola ip issues ???

I bough a ip from pensecola and had a mechanic install it ( not a diesel mechanic ), he lined up all of the marks down the front of the engine like he was suppose to but he took the gear cover off when he did. Now the truck has a really difficult time starting we have to use a gas soked rag over the intake to get it started, when it does it blows white/gray smoke out the tail pipe. I have a member on here helping me to get it running right (gonecrazyi). He is way more experienced with these engines than I am and
when we get it running when you push the throttle the "plunger" on the drivers side bottom of the ip it doesnt go in far enough. I am going to run some atf through it in the morning let it sit and run it later in the day to see if mabey it is gunk causing the pump to act up. If you need more info or details just ask, not good at describing really.

He told me that the front end had been disassembled, because of the way the IP had been replaced, to make sure the marks were lined up correctly. That being the case, and it only starting with a gas on a rag and the pedal floored makes it seem like a bad rebuild. Something isn't right internally. I'm sure the manual pump feeding into the electric to supply fuel doesn't help things but Billy said the truck behaved the same way before the electric pump was added. I don't think it's a lift pump problem, I think it's a botched rebuild on the IP.

A pensacola pump and an improper install procedure, half a recipe for disaster. the plunger only advances timing till 2200 ish rpm. has nothing to dowith fuel delivery or starting.

The truck ran fine until the old ip went out and the old pump had the electric pump pulling from the mech. Billy was telling me about the pin possiby not being at the 4'0clock position at cyliner 1tdc. I will see i what pensecolas return policy is if it is shot. Looking for opinons.

I bought an IP from them and have put 1000 miles on it. It dies if I let off the gas pedal and push in the clutch - every time. I've let it sit with treatment in it several times, but it still does it.
I don't have time or money to change it. So I just drive the truck carefully... But stopping is always tricky... And dangerous.
What a disappointment!

Do you still have your old IP? If not, talk to Billy about acquiring one so you can have it rebuilt. Contact John down at NozzleMaster, they're in Orlando and he's usually got good prices.

I dont have the old one, only the one in the truck, pensecola will exchange the one I have according to there online policy . I will probably get one off of Billy to get sent off to be rebuilt or if it has low miles might just stick it in the truck depending on the rebuid price. Thanks didnt know about nozzelmasters, do they do good quality rebuilds ?
Still wanting more opinions on it.

I know a few people that had John rebuild their pumps....not all of them Stanadyne pumps.

Hmmmm, a bad IP or TWO from Pensacola Diesel > don't ask me how I know.
But who knows, it may be the instal.

Ya might want to check these people out. They did U-haul's IP reman for years. U-haul sold a bunch of them to members when they had there sale. Only seen a couple of guys that had trouble with them.

You should have printed it out and given it to your mechanic along with that pump. Now you have two unknowns and are in need of a rescue. Your mechanic is not the guy to be working on this now.
