one last ? fuel tanks

Some idiot took the breather tubes out of the filler necks when the mounted the flat bed. Now neither tank takes fuel unless you pull the litlle plug deal out of the top of the tank. So where can you get new breather tubes or what can you use instead?

There was a discussion on TDS about removing the plug at the end of the top mounted vent hose on our tanks. Some just pulled it out, other fabricated a vent system of sorts, but all said that it made our tanks take fuel. My tank fill vents were inside the fill tube. I replaced them with units that are outside the fill tube, helped some, but I am going to figure out something to vent the top of the tanks better as well.

What I am say is I can't even pour in b100 from a ventless gas can it is that bad

Yeah, that is bad. I would look at fabricating a new vent for the vent on top of the tank. I pulled the rollover valve out of mine once, WOW, what a difference.

I took the stock check valve/vent assembly off the top of the tank, replaced it with a 3/4" elbow and used about 3' of line and tied it as far above the top of the tank as possible. To keep the crud out of it, I used a kitchen faucet aerator screen tip and clamped it into the end of the tubing.
Works great. Ya I know redneck supreme.

Only downfall to it was the fact that I used regular automotive grade hose and is now getting soft.
It was an inexpensive fix to make sure it was gonna work. Just need to upgrade now to a diesel safe vent line.

I would think there would be a bigger (3/4 inch) rollover valve available somewhere!

All the breather is, is a piece of plastic tubing. If you could find some split loom that isn't split (like I see in some factory stuff) or maybe a hose off one of those battery operated Kerosene pumps, or even a regular hose, but you want the diameter to be generous and the walls to be thin so as not to restrict the flow on either side.

Exact same ones I have. Not to bust your bubble, but the top of the tank mounted vent is the problem. These helped, now I can set the pump on the lowest lock setting and it will run a while before popping the safety shutoff, but pull the rollover dohicky out of the end of the vent hose on top of the tank and I think I could dump the Valdeze in there!

You are talking about the vent in the fill hose, correct? The real problem I have found is the one on top of the tank. I was given the idea over on TDS, and it makes a huge difference removing the valve at the end of the vent on top of the tank. The stock hose is like 3/8, but bigger would do even better I am sure.

I had this problem on a dump bed.I soldered a nipple to thr top of each tank and ran a hose from the top of one tank to the top of the other tank.take both caps off when you fuel and it vents through the other tank filler.
One important point -make sure you have no dip in the line where a slug of fuel can sit or it will slow down the venting.Make the line go up in the middle so as to drain the vent line in case of an over fill.

Wow, great idea! I wonder if a vented cap would flow enough air to negate having to remove both caps, not that it is a big problem.
