I try to open pour or use a clear tube/hose for suspicious fuel. Just to get a visual.

Untaxed/farm diesel at my local station isn't even marked. This has been for years now.

Dunno about stateside, but here - with farm plates - we can run marked fuel on-road legally.

let alone the Electric vehicles that go free also.

This is one reason the Govt. want us to pay by the mile, it`s coming folks.

Paying for miles is happening for electric: https://chargedevs.com/newswire/proposed-texas-ev-tax-would-be-the-nations-highest/

It points out that EVs only account for 1% of vehicles on the road. Fuel taxes don't go up with inflation, so that's why road maintenance revenue is drying up, because fuel tax is actually not high enough to properly keep up with road repairs. EVs do pay extra state fees in most states as a replacement for fuel taxes. They are usually not heavy vehicles so they don't put as much wear and tear on the roads.

And in fact: "Furthermore, a 2019 analysis by Consumer Reports found that, of the 26 states that imposed EV fees at that time, 11 charged more than the amount paid in gas taxes by owners of comparable legacy vehicles, and 3 charged more than double the amount."

So, EVs are actually subsidizing gas/diesel vehicle road use.
