OK, this is making me mad...Electic fuel pump problems...

It just doesnt make sence why many of us are running these style pumps with no issue. Take my hose off at the injection pump and i could fill a pool. . not trying to make this a fighting match just trying to help you out that is all.

I run the Carter 4070 and it's fine. Mel reviewed it on this board, and Summit carries it. Someone else is running the 8 psi version, the 4594.

I'm running the Carter as well, frame rail mounted on the passenger side, draws fuel from the stock pollack valve and lines are ran in exact location as factory. Been on 5 years + with nothing but good luck. I run a pre-filter as well, also from Summit, Perma cool. It has a filter with a water separator and the filters are $14.95.

i will be ordering a Carter 4601hp to replace my holley black. They also have great things to say about the carters over on the cummins forums.

Was wondering the same thing. I bumped a line in my cab lift/mount replacement and it crumbled. I took it out and it looked like it had been chafing against the frame and it did leak. It was the return line, never lost any fuel, until I bumped it, but I replaced both lines from the pollack to the front tank and I swear I picked up 15 HP! Truck ALWAYS started easy, etc. until the line gave out in the swap, but even then, it would fire off, die, then start and run, albeit lopy. I pulled two 1000+ lb beef cattle and trailer to the processor 50 miles away and home empty and it never missed a beat, even with the gaping split in the return line, but it was tough to get running after it set for any time.

so you have rubber line going from the tank to the pump, then rubber going all the way up to the filter or did you tie in to the factory plastic fuel lines somewhere.


what you are describing sounds exactly like what happened the first time I installed an e pump. I tied into the plastic lines and they were collapsing and causing flow problems.
