Hello, I have found two new oilfilters in a box, Mann filter W940/1
and I can't find out if they are a match for my 1989 F-350 with the 7,3L IDI?
the tread on this filter is: 3/4-16 UNF.

any help much appreciated.

Try google.
Try a couple auto parts stores.

Big manufacturers make cross reference books. See if you can cross reference back to the Ford filter number. Or year, make, and model.

no.

Cross reference:
FORD:05004 776, FORD:1213 439, FORD:1614 735, FORD:1794 446, FORD:1827 183, FORD:1829 195, FORD:5000 513, FORD:5004 776, FORD:5016 960, FORD:BCNN 6714 B, FORD:C 1 AZ 6731 A, FORD:D 2 NN 6714 C, FORD:D0NN 6714 B, FORD:E9AE 6714 B, FORD:XM3J-6731-FA,

The filters that fit 7.3s are FL-784 and FL-1995. You can google the cross referenced above to see if they somehow map back but doubt it and I wouldn’t waste your time over a non oem filter.

Hopefully someone has a answer for you. In the states Mann is a off brand so not common. Many of us have a Walmart, Ford dealer or auto parts store nearby that stocks the Motorcraft Filters for less than $20. But get these IDI’s are not very common in Europe.

Yes, right, I gonna pay 20$ for a oilfilter, and then 51$ postage, never ever in my life, I don't see why those Ford filters should cost soo much, and one must not forget, here in europe we have some great filtermakes as well! MANN is a german company, that counts for me, then a filter is 5$ and 6$ postage, that's reasonable, and I bet they are as good as Ford filters!

Mann is good quality and common on and I use them on exotics, most stuff that follows under V-A-G ends up with Mann. I don’t see a clear cross reference though, goodluck.

I found a cross reference chart for the FL 1995, and it mentions a MANN ML1020, and a W1180.

There are still some AFEES garages left in Germany. Go to kiserslauten or stuggart and visit with the pzrts deptment. May bingo!

Have you tried the Opal haus? They are GM, but may have a parts department that would order them from the states and you could pick them up and maybe beat the import tax and shipping charge?

Another thought. Ford used to have quite a bit of industrial equipment in Germany, also cars and tractors. Maybe the Ford house. It has been quite a few years since I was there, so I dunna know.
