where on the 7.3L idi na engine block would i install the 1/8" npt temperature sending unit for a engine oil temperature gauge?

Since no one else is attempting this...I'll give it a whirl. Why not tee it with the oil pressure sending unit in the back of the block? Unless the pressure would be too great.

thats deffinately a thought i had it in mind but wasnt to sure if it would work, but whats the worst that would happen? any one else have a thought on this or a different idea, thats for the input F350Farmboy......

If you are placing it in an oil port be careful it doesn't stick in too far and close off some of the oil supply in that oil gallery. An elbow or a tee would be a better idea. Usually my motor runs about 10 degrees above the coolant temp till I really start pulling. My port is in the oil pan.

I absolutely agree on all points. The easiest thing might be a pipe nipple and coupler to bring the sensor bulb out a bit.

So the port above the oil filter is wherre abouts on a 7.3l cause i looked and couldnt see a pluug is it possible for you tp some how get a pic any way? Ordo you have a diagram / drawing to help me out please annd thanks i wont be workking on it for a couple of days haha i live in north wester british columbia and its been 35+ degrees for the lAst week the good old skeena river is at 10.9m deep flooding time really soon lol hope u guys can tell me wherre to put this sensor your help is muchly appreciated

Photobucket still isnt letting me upload any pics.....the port on the oil cooler is right above the oil filter, and maybe a little to the right. I think its a regular 6-point head, but I havent looked in that area in a while.
There are also two places on the crank rail that you can use for oil presure or temp. One is right at the back of the block where it meets the trans, and the other is ahead of the oil filter. Both are on plain with where the oil pan meets the block. Check out my FS-2500 pictures in the Moose TRuck album for photos.

there must be a good explanation for this like......it was just a placeholder for clearance?back on topic, if you cant get the probe in the pan i would agree the oil cooler would be the next best thing.

my oil cooler has no plugs in that spot, its just smooth in that spot....... i look again but alomst 90% positive no plug
