Oil pressure issue

Hello again, I have been running the new 96 engine in my 89 and am a little concerned by the oil pressure gauge. It is running 2 notches above low. I wonder if the sending unit is different on the 96 engine than it was on the 89 engine.

Added note, i just installed a mech gauge at the oil filter housing and i am seeing 80 at idle and 90-95 at 2k rpm
i am guessing that i have a bad sender correct?
does it matter that i am taking a reading at the filter rather than the other side of the block where the sender is?

if the dodge gauges are anything like a ford's, they suck. if you're really worried on where the fitting is located, the "rule of thumb" is for every foot of distance from the oil pump, there is a 10psi drop in oil pressure.

the OEM gauge/sender is junk..........I was gonna suggest tapping the finished (polished) side of the filter housing but thats exactly what you did

Yep the old school gauges are crapola. I was having issues as well and replaced the sender and now have somewhat better pressure. I wouldn't worry about it.

is filter housing an accurate place to read pressure?
if you have an issue down line from that you will see it in the gauge right?
