Okay so naturally now that I have just finished the paint and body work on my truck, the motor started leaking. It is a 93 7.3 idi with a e40d and banks turbo kit, the leak is coming from the back of the motor, and looks like it is running down the exhaust pipe in the center? Its hard to tell where it is coming fromm but does anyone have any ideas just from the description, the valve covers looked fine on the sides but couldn't really see to well on the back of the motor.

could be the drain from the turbo. the grouments get old and not seated right wil drip down the pipe and the wind makes it go everywhere. had that problem before.

If the leak is draining off the passenger side of the engine you may have something leaking on the injection pump. Way back under the rear of the intake manifold is the valley pan drain. It only flows off the back of the engine onto the starter area. Any fuel leak from the return lines or injection pump will end up there. Look at all the injectors for wet spots and under the injection pump. Post back what you find and we will go on from there as to how it can be fixed.

Servicing the fuel system with a banks turbo is just as easy as n/a.

it is oil building up on the valley on top of th motor, and then flowing down the backside of the motor. It isn't really that wet under the injector pump though, but I did just change injector pumps 3 weeks ago

At the end of the drain tube. Follow the drain tube to where it goes into the valley pan. Thats your problem.

*You will have to remove the intake and pressure housing to get to this.

If you aren't sure where it is coming from, you can get some UV dye for oil just like is used for finding leaks in AC systems and with a UV light and glasses ( about 15bucks at any parts store if you dont have access to some) you can runn the engine for a little bit and shut it down and hit it with the uv light and it will leave a bright yellow glowing trail leading directly to the start of the leak eliminating all of the guess work. There is always a lot of stray oil slung around on a diesel. this eliminates all of the confusion and can save a lot of unneeded work.
