I grabbed the last two clearance Rotella filters for $3.50 each today. Since I am towing 4000+lbs all the time now, I need to change the oil twice as often.

No, 11 in an IDI with the 7.3PSD filters. Normal capacity in an IDI is 10.

Oh and always I prefill my oil filter. That sucker absorbs probably two quarts! You fill it, it drops in level. You have to do that many times before it stops. There’s no way I’d want to start with a dry filter.

Interesting under the hood on my idi says 11qt n it has hasn't rotella oil n oil filter wonder why in the manual that came with the truck says same as under the hood that was set perm marker

I wouldn’t recommend that. The truck wouldn’t really notice that little weight.

The factory suggested interval was 2500 or 3000 while towing, as I recall. The truck notices it, but it’s may be a timing issue, which is being discussed in another thread.

I put cheap conventional oil (Delvac 15w40 right now) plus 1qt Lucas HD oil stabilizer to slow consumption, which does seem to help.
