Oil Cooler???

There is a screen at the bottom of the oil cooler housing, not the part you pull out but the box that is cast into the block, I accidentally poked two of the screens out. What does this screen do (besides pree screen stuff) if it's not there would I damage something??? It covers a hole in the block to filter the oil coming out I assume.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough There is a screen in the bottom of the oil cooler housing IS IT IMPORTANT, 05 f250 6.0hno.

Are you talking about the screen in the oil reservoir? If so, that screen is way important because it is stopping anything from getting to the HPOP that shouldn't. I'm not aware of any screen on the oil cooler itself.

You are correct, i went the ford dealer, and thats what it is got a new this morning.
