Ok if you have been following you know I have had a lot of drama with shift points on the 86 with 6.9 and C6.
My question is what is normal? Obviously, upshifts should be proportional to throttle opening and road speed.

As it is my max rpm at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle is 2,500. It is like a wall, like the trans goverenor will not allow a upshift above 2,500 unless the kickdown is activated. With kickdown activated, it is 3,300.

Before I think about it any more I'd like to hear what yours does?

Thanks.

I set mine to shift early and when I say early I mean really really early. I am in 2nd at around 7 mph and hit 3rd at 15 mph. I like it to shift early because I don't haul anything other than maybe a load of firewood or groceries and I'm going for fuel mileage. but you can adjust the VRV and Vacuum Modulator on the side of the trans to give you the shift you want. Then adjust the kickdown lever to get the downshifts you want. I really don't know what the factory set them to and frankly I don't care I like mine to shift early for the moment but when I pick up a trailer to haul I'll be adjusting it to fit my likes.

Nobody has "optimized" their shift points? Just wondering if 2,500 is max shift point without kickdown rod activated. What is the most 3/4 to 7/8 throttle shift RPM you see?

Sorry I don't have a tach. so I'm clueless when it comes to when it shifts under what throttle other than mph according to my speedo- which I forgot to mention is off by a factor of 1.2 I know that when I nail it she will shift later but haven't watched it. I will try and remember tonight on my way to work and watch it.

I adjusted mine to my liking, but I don't have a tach either. I adjusted mine to shift a little later since I will be towing. I also was curious about MPG with shift points. I didn't know if the lower rpm's made up for the extra throttle input that is needed to accelerate decently when in a higher gear.
