so as you guys know from my previous postings about no torque converter lockup and those of you who said just remove the little black box you were right! finally got it off after an hour of wiggling at the plug. and found out what it is. never thought to flip the box over and take a look to see if theres a name. DUR. it is a interceptor electronic modulator. anyone know if these are any good when not melted? tc works great now i love it. but curious as to how good the little box usually would work.

I prefer to use a shift kit over those magic black boxes.

Using the box mask the problems the tranny has. Shift kits will correct the problems.

I may stick with no shift kit. Seems to be working good enough for me. Except when the tc locks in 3rd if I have the truck up to about 2300 rpm when it locks it sounds like it kind of slips a bit. Should I maybe turn up the fipl? It is at 1.16 v.

Loosen the two screws and give it a twist. Check the voltage. Be sure it stays in spec. Give it a road test.

The way to stop the converter from slipping is by changing converter regulator spring. That will require tranny removal, because the spring is in the pump.

Yeah, give it a twist. Best answer I've ever heard on how to adjust a TPS/FILP.:eek::rotflmao

That setting is just fine. .9 to 1.4 is the idle setting.

2300 RPM sounds like the peddle to the metal. You don't have a lockup in 3rd, only in OD.

When I hit a big hill yea pedal to the metal haha. And I drive in town with od off. It locks up all the time. I can feel it go through all the gears and then feel it lock.

That is basically how I set them. Give it twist. Check the readings. Oh yes loosen the bolts first.:D

The E4OD dose have lock up in third. If it doesn't something funky is going on. That would be an electrical issue. Most likely the TPS. Could be other stuff too.

It does. And as weird as this sounds. If I punch it from a stop it feels like it locks up in 2 goes 1-2 then feels like a lockup and then 3rd then lockup.

There should be no lock up in second. Possible the tranny is shifting to quick. Jumping into third early. Ford's TCM program likes to lug the engine with early shifts. cookoo

Ya maybe. It's not shifting too soon it shifts nice. I may put in the switch to prevent lockup in city tho

After a month driving my first E4OD-equipped truck I was wondering about that...you just saved me from posting a new thread about this! (and a trip to the tranny shop for a diagnostic) ;Sweet
