Hello all, new to site i am in the process of swapping out all the half ton
1989 f150 suspension for 1 ton running gear including a cummins swap with
a c6 auto. The truck has 2.5 in rear leafs so iam swapping hangers with the
Sterling 10.5 and 6in lift. These springs are 3in wide. The front will sport a kingpin dana60.
This is all bolt on no fabbing needed. The f150 front hangers only have 4 rivets The donor
F350 has 6 rivets so ill have to drill out 2 holes. The rear bolts right up with 4 bolts.
All 1/2 in grade 8 bolts.

Nice work on the swap.

Couple things......

1. Even with the 1 ton running gear, you still have a half ton frame. The half ton and 3/4 - 1 ton frames are different. The 3/4 - 1 ton is stronger. So you do not have the capacity of a one ton, still just the half ton.

2. With that huge stack of blocks on the rear (most here don't like anything taller than the 4" factory F-350 blocks) you are going to get a TON of axle wrap with the torque from a diesel, you will probably have wheel hop from the axle wrap.

Looks like a nice clean truck, here in the rust belt, we don't see many shiny and rust free older trucks. The road salt in the winter loves to eat metal up.......

Well the 302 under the hood woke up with 4.10 gears been driving it around the property all day.
I have a standard catalog 4x4 book it said all these frames are 36000 psi. It is a daily driver / toy not using it for a work truck. That posi drives this truck much better than that 8.8 and i will install traction bars. I have a set of tuff country on my super duty they look and work great. The one ton axles will help support the 5.9 Cummins.

Be sure to put your build in the diesel conversion thread.

I'm planning on doing a 12v swap in a 97 Chevy suburban
Any reason your using a C6?

Hmm pretty cool. Can't beat C6 be interesting to see how it holds up to the cummins

A BDS torque converter and a shift kit that would be an awsome set up IMO
