Need real part name!!!!???

What is the name of the vacuum actuated thing that is on top the heater box in the far right cornor of the the engine bay??? I think it controls the recirculation door on max ac and off????

I believe that's called the vacuum motor according to my manual. They are used in several different places. Where you mentioned to control the fresh air door and another for the panel/defrost door. There were many variations over the years as some earlier models were cable operated as well. It would have been cool (pardon the pun) if Ford used a cable or electric motor setup along with Hydroboost brakes to eliminate the need for the vacuum pump but that's a whole different post.

When Ford started equiping trucks with hydroboost brakes, they still use vacuum to control the AC doors and the ESOF Front Hubs. Instead of it being a belt driven engine accessory, it is an electric pump with a resv. mounted to the passenger side fenderwell. So even in the late model trucks, it still runs off of vacuum. I have the Automatic Climate Control......

Thanks Scott, I got that definition out of the 1988 Ford Factory service manual. This is the newest Ford that I have owned to date (showing my age) and I believe seacow's 92.5 to be at least similar. If I'm wrong, I apologize. I cut my teeth on a lot of trucks of the 60's and 70's when things were much more simple. When if you wanted to adjust the air you simply cranked the handle on the door or opend the vent window. The only reason I mentioned eliminating the engine driven vac pump is the belt slop/tension issues many of us have using a large alternator. a dual belt would sure help with that but that's way off topic.

I think that is the correct name. I have an 03 with the 6.0. I think the 7.3 PSD may have the same electric pump setup, but I am not sure. I understand 2/60 AC. My Dad has and I know how to use a "new fangled" inductive timing light he got in the very early 80's, and a distrubutor wrench. I also remember when you had to order ALL the luxery items, like an automatic transmission, a radio (yes I mean radio, let alone cassette), power controlled anything, AC. Now you have to special order to not have all the bells and whisles.

I believe that's the "Chariot" vehicle from "Lost in Space". It was built on a SnoCat chassis and some accounts say it is actually amphibious. Just a conceptual exercise on a small go anywhere vehicle. Besides anything with tracks is just cool. Unknown if it was a diesel though.....
