i have my 6.9 about 90% togetger!! ;Sweet :D :hail all i need is to put the intake on (after i clean it) and put everything on the front (w/p,i/p and pulleys). when i put my pushrods in i looked at both ends, neither really looked "copper color" one end, on a few, had like a greyish tint, while the other ends were pretty shiny but not really copperish. near the shiny ends there was a dot in the pushrods about 3/4-1" down. i assumed the shiny ends were copper so i put them towards the rockers as the manual stated, but with the money i have in this motor i couldn't sleep so well (also finished up at 3AM LOL ) not being 100% on if they were right.

Jon,

I can't find a pic anywhere and have no loose pushrods laying around. The color difference between the two ends should be obvious and as you mentioned the copper colored end goes to the rocker arm. Do you have any pics of the push rods you have?

It is very common for the copper to wear off. And be impossible to tell. But if you look real close you can see the end that went on the push rod will be polished around the ball alittle bit more than the one in the lifter. Because of the motion of the rocker going up and down and around it will work down alittile more than lifter side which just spins. Also the end that was copper will usally not be polished quite as much.
