My 7.3 is louder than others?

Just curiuos on thoughts for this. At idle my truck louder than a 6.9 and another 7.3 at a couple different fuel stations.Just started noticing this. My truck runs fine,mpg and pulling power is fine.

A 6.9 or 7.3 can be timed so far retarded it will sound like a gasser. I found this out when I timed about a million trucks at the towcat bar b que last year. One truck was so qiuete it barely made a sound when it strated up for the timing.. It was way off retarded...

Exhaust? Dmf dieing? A video or better description would help. I have 3 trucks and they all sound different. An 86,88 and a 91. The 86 is noisy due to a bad engine. The 91 is next noisest with timing I believe. The 88 is the quietest and thats bc it has a muffler not open headers or a glass pack like the other 2

if those trucks have alot of miles on the fuel system, the timing could be retarded...or yours could be advanced, if it concerns you get it timed.

My 86 is alot quieter on start up than my 94. Both pumps were timed by Mel at the last rally. Also the 86 has 211000 miles, the 94 has 113000 and both are manual with smf and straight piped.

Although timing makes a difference, I've always found the 7.3's to be louder and have a more lower tone rattle then the 6.9
