motors out..... head cracked!!!!

that's right i got a cracked driver-side head can really tell where the head gasket would have been leaking. the crack is from the valve out to a water jacket, and i got some more cracks in the pre combustion chamber.

i need to know where i can find a used head and where is the best place to get a rebuild for the 6.9l possibly just a re ring with gaskets and bearings.

i got a 7.3l that ran when it got pulled that i can get but im not sure how all the glow plug stuff swaps and am worried if i put that down in it i might later encounter a cavitation problem.

Run the 7.3 for now with coolant treament (and a compression test) and start hunting ebay for a head. Maybe your has some core value, too. The glo plug stuff won't be a direct plugin but someone who has done it can help you nail it down. Likely just a matter of jumpering a few wires.

I hear ya, been having similar problems. Trying to get an engine lift right now, but can't cause it's for the truck and the truck is down!! Won't fit in a wagon
Where do you live in OH? Might be someone close by willing to help out. Don't forget about a boxtruck rental. Could be surprisingly cheap AND you could get one of those lift gates!!!

"rvassar"(remember him?) brother was supposed to pick up the shortblock, but I guess his brother wound up using the truck as trade-in material. So I have a coplete longblock up for grabs. All you need to figure out is how bad a freight company is going to hurt you on the shipping. let me know if you run out of options out there.

I have a bare head off of a 83 ity has been dissasembled and mag fluxed.not doin me much good without a match, the other side was cracked.

oh yea....one more thing.....PM "the warden" on getting the info on ID'ing the '83 head. I think the compression is a little lower than any other year.

hey thanks that would be great but i just asked if i can use my father-in-laws power choke and he said it was ok. I got a trail ride in attica on the 11th so it is going to work out that i can just go get it.

Bummer you are so far away, I'm headed out sometime in the next few days to grab a $90 t19 from a diesel at the local pick-n-pull junk yard, had 2 heads on it last weekend, probably cheap
