So today I managed to chase down a Wix 33617 fuel filter, which is like the NAPA 3617 fuel filter that is on my truck-- no separate threaded "cup" on the bottom of the filter-- the filter has its own drain knob, and also a spot for the 'water in fuel' sensor.

Since I haven't changed one of these before, it is not all that clear to me how the 'water in fuel' sensor attaches.

Can someone describe how to take the sensor off the old filter (before or after removing from the mount?) and put it on the new filter? I don't want to be doing it by trial&error at the temperatures that we're having recently, or the freezing rain predicted for Sunday.

Thanks!

Thanks

If I remember right mine just pulled off. Grab the rubber boot and pull the wire off. Put on new filter and shove it on. The sensor is part of the filter so all your doing is connecting the wire to it. I remember they made it pretty easy to do ;Sweet Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Unscrew the sensor, remove the oring and take the oring that came with the new filter and put it on the sensor and put a dab of oil on the oring and tighten it down, not too tight, the threads are plastic. then install the filter, the wire plugs right onto it ;Sweet should take a 9/16 wrench for the sensor if memory serves me.

Thanks guys-- I may end up doing this in the outdoors in foul weather, perhaps after dark, so I appreciate the info so that I can be sure I'll be able to do it both quickly and correctly.
