More e4od issues ...

I'm trying to plug an older e4od into a newer harness (94) . The mlps plugged right in but the solenoid pack plug will NOT plug in . I stared at the male and female ends for 30minutes but I cannot find a single difference in either . They look identical ...

you must be trying to plug it in backwards then.spin it around 180 degree's and see how that treats ya.

I tried that . It has different clips front to back so it's easy to tell which way to plug it in , but I did try 180 as well .

I do know there are a few differant plugs. I found this out when I bought my BTS E4OD trans. Lucky for me I didn't have to change any wires or plugs.. But I had all the stuff to do so.

I guess ill just have to run by the pull it yard and snip off all of the e4od plugs I can find ... :

The only difference I can find is that the newer solenoid female end ID is slightly larger than the older one . This has to be the issue . Do they sell plugs ? I can only find repair kits for the newer style .. I have a new solenoid pack ( newer style ) but I really don't want to mess with changing them .. I'd sure hate to cause an internal leak .

I ended up ordering a new solenoid pack instead of cutting and splicing. Easier to do. Cleaner install.

Swapping the pack is easy. Remove the screws give it a yank. You might have to push down on the plug while yanking the pack.

Make sure the hole is clean. Toss a little ATF on the O ring. Then push the new pack in place. tighten the Torx scews 80-100 inch pounds, starting from the center.

Swapping the pack is easy. Remove the screws give it a yank. You might have to push down on the plug while yanking the pack.

I think this is the route I'm going to take . I spent awhile at the pull it yard today .. Found what I believe is the correct plug but it was thrashed ... they wanted $5 . I found another plug that looked great , but it was $25 ! Just because it was on the other side of their self serve fence ; the side that THEY have to pull . I had it in my hand , other hand was wire cutters .. no one in sight .. I seriously thought about just snipping it and tossing it over the fence to retrieve later , or slipping it in my pocket .. Unfortunately I'm not that way , some times it sucks being honest !

I couldn't bring myself to give them $25 for it so I left empty handed .

its going to take you longer to swap the damn plug over than it will to change the solenoid pack! JUST DO IT!

Yep , going to swap packs . I can't seem to find a gasket for it .. are they installed without one ?

Yup. from the factory there is a flat gasket. That usually breaks. I trim around the pack and clean up the two mating surfaces and bolt in the new pack.

So I just remove the old gasket and install it without one ? Sorry , just want to be sure .. I don't have a drain on my pan so I don't want to drop it twice

YUP! While you're at it, you can install a 4R100 pan, it comes with a drain plug already.
