I will get some measurements for you. As for stability, I've never really noticed a difference. Both produce a trailer that is equally usable and good handling. The A-frame will have more tongue weight all things equal otherwise. I like the box frame tongue jack arangement better. My one A-frame has the hitch integrated tongue jack, which works well be can't be swung out of the way, and takes a while to crank up. My other one had it on one side, which was problem at times. I also find the box frame easier to hitch up at an angle then the A-frames are.

If your worried about stability of the trailer when not hooked up,just put a swing down leg like a Military trailer.My M105 has a simple pivoted leg on the rear that you swing down and has a foot on the bottom.It is a couple inches shorter than the distance between the ground and the pivot so there is enough room for compressed suspension but would catch the tail before the hitch went Patriot missile launcher on ya.

I will probably go with a vertical tongue-integrated crank jack, never did like the swing-away types much and taking a minute to crank the jack all the way up or down is really no big deal for me. But since A-frame makes for a heavier tongue, that's probably what I'll do - any recommendations on tongue length?

I just measured my trailer. It is a 70s frame with a stack of springs 10" tall
and has a mason dump body in it. The frame (from the bend to the center of the ball) is 42" , The bent section of the frame is 25" long. It is then attached to the tubing for the surge hitch
