making lil truck flat bed

im making my lil 88 a flat bed and eliminating front fuel tank,bed,tail gate and front fuel tank for sale,dont know if sending unit is good or not,tank is good,$50 a piece or $100 for all of it.i was tracing fuel lines out and my supply line runs into a lil box up on fire wall under drivers side hood hinge and has a lil plunger on it what is this lil box for, my 90 doesnt have it thanks
