Was wondering if any has a factory tach for sale?

I see this is your first posting. You really need to state more information like what year truck or tach you are looking for. They are hard to find but there are some available from time to time. Why do you want a tach? The reason for this question is sometimes the tach stops working because the sender or the wires going to it break. Also behind the dash there are connections that may become corroded or loose. Trying to help but more info is required.

Sorry for the lack of info. The truck is a 1984 F250 6.9l with a 4 speed standard trans. It never came with a factory tach even though I have the connection at the gear. Being a stick shift I would like to install a tach and try to keep it original. If one isn't avail then I guess I would have to settle for an aftermarket. Also I was wondering how critical exhaust back pressure to a diesel is especially to a non turbo 6.9l. Was thinking of upgrading to a 4 inch exhaust if it would help the performance. Any info would help TY.

Hey man, I see you're kinda-sorta local - try scavenging the tachometer and associated wiring from a junkyard truck, Parts Galore has some of the best U-Pull-It facilities, and as of 2-3 weeks ago the one on 8 Mile and Hoover had two 6.9 diesel trucks - one even had the IP still in there, but don't count on that cause we took it already 
In any case, $1 gets you through the door, another $1 gets you a wheel-barrow, you bring your own tools, and you're all set for scavenging parts.
As far as backpressure - unlike a gasoline engine, in a diesel like yours you don't want any of that, therefore the 4" upgrade will be nice. One thing to keep in mind tho, the real bottleneck of these exhaust systems is the Y-merge where the two 2" downpipes go into the single 2.5" mid-pipe, if you could get rid of that and make the dowpipes merge straight into the big 4" pipe that would be sweet!

TY for the info on the exhaust. As for the tach I already have the under hood connections just need the tach for the IP and the under dash connections. TY for the info on Parts Galore its been a minute since I've been there.

Parts Galore now have several locations, one is the original at 8 & Hoover, there's another at Livernois and Warren or something, then there's still another one that is very new and more towards your neck of the woods, but I don't remember where it is - ask around about that one.

I have the same truck and engine - and tried forever to get an oem tach. Ended up with a nice autometer mounted on the column.
I have one, but as you've sumized, they are like gold. 83's and a lot of 84's did not come with them. Most didn't even have the pump gear housing with the fitting for the sender. I just scrapped an 85 that had one in it, and I'm afraid I'm going to keep it for a while since we're trying to cobble something together for my son. Once I see he does or doesn't need it, it may become available. Ebay, and wrecking yards are your best places to look.
