Looking at 95 F250 , valuation

Looking at a 95 F250 4wheel drive, Long Bed, Power Windows, DL and seats. Has the 7.3 Powerstroke Turbo, 2 Door, some minor paint issues, needs cleaned up as it has been sitting. Unsure of mileage at this time as batteries were dead when I looked at it. Dual Tanks, reese hitch, 2 door, Bench Seats, no carpet. Minor dents in Drive Side of bed, just behind cab. Rear Slider. Just replaced Fuel Filter and Glow Plugs. Assuming it cranks and runs good (which I will verify this weekend) what would be a fair price to offer on it? Oil is clean in it, at this time, we can only see it needs cleaning up. It has been sitting about 5 months. They are asking $2000 , I am thinking $1200 -$1500 range.

Why are the batteries dead if it's only been sitting for 5 months? New batteries for a PSD aren't cheap. Figure about $300 just for the two of them (for good ones). Honestly though, if you get it even for $2000 then it'd be worth it to me. I bought mine for $4000 and had about $3000 worth of parts that it needed. Stupid mistake on my part to pay that much for it, but it is what it is.

Someone left the key in the on position and drained the batteries. He is getting new batteries for it. I just sold my 91 F350 7.3 IDI. This is more suited to what I need. It will be a nice truck once cleaned up. I decided $2000 is my max on it, as I know from it sitting I may need to have a few things done. Mainly, it needs a good wash and wax job and clean out inside. I only run interstate batteries in my Dually and have always had good luck with them, so that is what this truck will get. I do plan to have my mechanic to check it over, making sure Glow Plugs, relay and all are in good shape.

Did not take any the first time I looked, will take some this weekend, it REALLY needs to be washed, been sitting under trees.... Once the deal is complete will clean it up and post some pics

Mine doesn't have the best paint, but a wash and wax sure does wanders.
Actually just got in from doing an oil change on her.

Have you done much reading on the psd's yet?

Not much but a friend had a 93 Crew Cab, so I know some about them. I know will be different than my 91 F350 7.3 IDI. My Dad was here last weekend and looked at it with me, he likes the PSD's , he has an 03 with the 6.0 and it has been a good truck.

94 was the first year for the psd.

I like em also.
There's a few "maintenance" thing's that aren't often covered.
Like the fpr screen and ebp tube.

Is the fpr screen and ebp tube something I should go ahead and do? Is it hard to do, I can do some stuff, but a lot of times I take it to my mechanic.

You can do it. It's common for the ebp tube to rust through, or just clog up with soot.
The fpr screen is pretty easy, but I'd suggest taking the whole fuel bowl off and rebuilding it at the same time. Makes a good time to replace the fuel hoses too. (I have part numbers)

CPS's are supposed to be another common thing, but I guess I've been lucky. People say to carry a spare one and 10mm socket to change it.

The AutoEnginuity (sp?) Scanner is good to have. Normal code readers won't work. It's a bit pricey too, but well worth it.

If it still has the factory airbox, may want to change it. They were known to leak unfiltered air.
Look up AIS intake.

The IPR nuts like to fall off or just back off a bit. Wont usually cause a no run situation, just lope idle and a surge. If it's all the way off, can cause it to die on hard accel.

While the fuel bowl is out, it'd be the perfect time to replace the fuel pump. I would highly recommend doing a e-fuel conversion. It's also a bit pricey, but not a whole lot more than a mechanical fuel pump + fuel bowl (which is deleted in a e-fuel setup)
I replaced my pump with a mechanical one a few months ago, and I think it may be giving me problems.
The fuel bowls are great at collecting dirts and other particles. I cleaned a few pounds out of mine. Lol

If I am not mistaken, he replaced the fuel pump less than a year ago. I talked to my mechanic about an E Fuel conversion and he has no idea , so I may wait to find help to do that.

A mechanic wouldn't really know anything about the e-fuel swap, unless he's done it on his own truck.

On the fuel pump being replaced, really depends on the brand. I put a airtex on mine around march, and I think it may be crapping out already. (Not confirmed yet though)

After looking at the truck yesterday, have determined the starter is shot, hence not starting. Seller is replacing starter for me. Also, checked mileage only 111,000 on it. Exciteddd to get her home.
