-cuss I bought another kent moore timing meter. If you look closely at the pics the seller has hidden the fact that the case cover is broken off.... Big mistake hding something but... It has severl luminosity probes. I don't need them nor will I use them. So now I have a meter with a broken lid. I just tested it... Yeap... You guessed it... the meter does not function properly.... It broken or as some say.... *****.... I reread the listing so I filed a claim on paypal and ebay for a refund for shipping et all. I'm no dummy. I have 4 of these meters and I know how they work and what hapens when they loose some of the various ways they will time a motor. This meter suxs in all the above. So this is just a warning if this meter or seller posts this item again. Don't bid on it. I too will be watcing for it to be relisted and try to warn you guys about it. So for now I'm still "collecting meters" so I can offer them to the forum so you guys can time your motors.... Here is the original listing...l

Well... This seller of this broken meter emailed me twice today. The first message was asking me why I left negative feedback before trying to work this out with him...:mad:cookoo I told him the meter didn't work. He had hid the fact that the case cover was broken off or he would have MENTIONED THAT in the listing... You guys can take a look at the pics. Gees... You have to stare very closely at it and vevn then you really can't tell is broken of completey. He asked me if I still had the shipping box and.... All the packing. Was there any damage on the box.... Hell no.... everything was fine from the outside. That cover wont break off in shipping the way he packed it.... The guy is pushing me big time on this. He asked me if the meter doesn't work at all or is just some of the functions not working....cookoo-cuss:mad::backoff First off it doesn't have any luminosity probes that will work with this meter. They are snapon probes. Secondly there isn't the lumiy probe wire harness to make it work. So this meter does not work as described in the listing.... The parts are missing that may have allowed it to work and it wont hold a timing degree or an rpm reading... Just plain *****. I told him to send me a shipping prepaid tag and I would ship it back to him for a complete refund of shipping and all moneies spent by me. I also told him the three lumiy probes are no longer sold or offered and when they were they cost around $250.00 each. I have no interest in keeping a broken meter with expensive probes that will sell all day long on ebay for alot more than what I paid for this broken meter. Business is business and he was doing bad busines by hiding a broken item. I sure as hell didn't break it and he even sent me inlarged pics with arrows pointing to the tiny areas showing the broken lid. It still didn't show the lid was completely broken off nor did it state that. The meter doesn't work as listed and it was misrepresented in the listing. I will win this one no dought.... Just another ebay folley......:D

I don't know about you , but to me; and I do look very closely at auctions, but these two pictures speak volumes to me about a broken case. It is clear that the lid is not attached correctly and the last one the lid is offset to one side entirely depicting that it's broken....

riotwarrior... The seller did not list the broken lid. Did not have enough parts for this to time any motor. I have all the necessary probes and wires to make it work. It does not work. The way the guy set this up in the first pic clearly tells me he was trying to hide the broken lid. Otherwise he would have stated this in the auction. This was misrepresented as a functioning timing meter and the lid being broken of was hidden from view and not listed. You can monday morning quarterback it all you want. The seller tried to decieve the buyer. And... I let him know those lumiy probes are obsolite and hard to find anywhere. You can't use the meter doing the luminosity probe type timeing without those expensive probes. He can make much more than the $107.00 I paid for a broken meter. And yes... I could keep them and sell those probes on ebay and make plenty of money off them. I'm not that unfair. I told the guy honestly about how expensive they were and to sell them on ebay.... Gees.... I could sell them here and make plenty of money but thats not fair even if I legaly bought and paid for them. I just don't want something that someone sold me unfairly.

How much do you want for the probes. If you'll sell them I want them. Hell I'll trade you a rotunda unit with pulse adapter for them.

I'm with Brimmstone on the probes. I looked for almost 3 years before WrickM gave me a probe. That was just dumb luck. (thanks Wrick). And my wife's step father and 2 of her uncles are snap on drivers. They couldn't find one either.

What really sucks right now is mine just got broken by an idiot ex-coworker who dropped it after he took it out of my toolbox asking me what it was. I told him to put it back carefully and he acted like it was a joke. He jokingly tossed it from one hand to another and missed the catch. He was loading his stuff ten minutes later after my explosion. Not even my boss will mess with the tools in my diagnostic box because he knows better.

I understand your frustration, I purchased a hard drive from a seller and it had a burn hole in when I got it. It was not the unit pictured.

You are correct the auction did not state a lid was broken, that though is least of issues...a working meter is more important. If it's not working then it was misrepresented.

I disagree that the seller "hid" the broken lid, as I showed it clearly is not attached correctly and is in plain sight in the two pictures I put up it appears broken.

That being said the seller should have stated lid not attached.:backoff

Unfortunately, that's the problem with about 99% of teh used timing meters sold on ebay( along with most of the other diagnostic equipment). These stinking full time dealers scrounge these things from retired mechanics garage sales for $0.50 , or get them in pallet lots of used equipment from government auctions and have no idea how they work, and they attach a hot lead to them and if a light , lights up, they call it "working"
I gave up on playing that expensive game and just bought the Ferret. Sometimes you just can't beat something new if you want something that actually works

Well... Things are now taken to a personal low level... The seller is telling me I'm dishonest and not an expert on these decades old meters. All his "other" customers have been very happy with there same knet moore meters. Plus this meter was professionaly tested and it worked perfectly before shipping...Anybody knows shipping a sensative instrament like this can be damaged in transit... Nope... It was packaged very nicely and I told him so.... That statement isn't true. There isn't any way the meter could have been tested. The wire lead that the lumiy probe fits in was not part of the sale item. It doesn't even show up in any pics. If I want my money back I need to ship it back in the same condition as I recieved it in the same box with the packing (which I saved) and then and only then will I be refunded....I'm sure he thinks I don't have the original box or the packing. Less shipping costs.... This guy goes on to further attack me. Hes telling me the buyer just below me on feedback had a trim piece ruined by the post office. Even though it wasn't the sellers fault he refunded all the money...I'll bet not the shipping. Well, Others issues are not mine. This guy continues attacking me personally. Bottom line is he setup the lid to look like it wasn't broken and didn't disclose that fact. There is no way the meter could have been tested other than just connected to a power source. I'm sure nobody removed a glow plug and really tested this meter on a diesel. Sure, it lites up but doesn't work. As I told this guy I have already filed a claim and lets allow that to run its course. He can't win. Just way too much in my favor... Even If I loose I can and will sell the limiy probes and make plenty of money. I even told this guy about these probes being worth gold because they are no longer made. Without them a meter is worthless. Just another terrible ebay seller ripping people off. I would gladly stop the claim and "fix" the negative feedback if I get what I asked for. I know if this seller gets this meter back he will use anything against me... Like there are parts missing... This or that was damaged by me... This isn't the meter he sold me... I did something wrong to the meter..... Nope... Not a good business person... This is the only place where the buyer is not always right. So I'm done with this guy and paypal along with ebay has all this personal attack crap.... Funny how you let someone talk and they condem themselves....:sly

Gary, just send all that stuff to eBay/PayPal. It is obvious there is a problem. He is so pissed because he got caught with his pants down on this little venture and he's going to have to eat it.

Hang in there.......... you'll get the refund. And there is no reason for the guy to require you to ship this all back in the exact same box and whatever. That's just him trying to find any way he can to make you back off.

Thanks Heath... I truely understand that about shipping it back in the same box with the same packing. I have all that and I told him I did but.... Now he wants it in the same condition it was when he shipped it to me... I don't feel he will believe me that the way he gets it back is the same way I got it... Its kinda ambiguious. He has continued to personally attack me. He said he got this from a pro mechanic that retired after 45 years doing this mechanical truck and auto work.... That statement means nothing. He could have been a terrible mechanic. But it has no bearing on what I have. The meter pics hid the fact the lid was broken. The probes don't belong to this meter. The meter is missing the wire probe that these lumiy probes fit in. The meter does not work... Its not holding an rpm signal nor a timing degree signal. No way this was tested before it was shipped. That requires removing a glow plug from a diesel. His personal attacks have hurt me personally. He called me aself proclaimed expert that doesn't know how these meters work. I told him I have several of these same meters to compare the function to. Therefore his meter does not work., Sure... It lites up when 12 volts is applied but that it. He goes on to state that I'm buying and selling these meters on ebay.... WTH.... Everybody here knows me and I have never sold anything on ebay nor to anyone else. for that matter... I asked him why he was accusing me of buying and selling when he had no proof of it. He said .... P.S. You can catch more flys with honey that you can with vinegar..... I think its sugar... Not honey but anyways.... If I can figure out how to post the emails here all will see how he is really making trouble for himself. I finally told him I wanted a prepaid shipping lable and a complete refund for all my costs including shipping. No reason I should be paying for broken not working stuff. Paypal has this info and they sent him a message telling him this is my needs... He declined to refund me any money..... I told him that I would add to me feedback that things were worked out to me satidfaction if he would give me what I needed. I can do a feedback followup. Then he can add to the floowup and I can add to that. Just a few minutes ago he sent me another email. Now he will refund all my money with shipping and send a perpaid shipping lable. I have to ship it within 24 hours of reciete. I must remove the negative feedback... When he gets the meter back in the same condition as it was when he sent it to me only then will I get a refund.... He said his only desire was to remove the negative feedback.... Ys know what... I was born in the dark but it wasn't last nite. I told him how expensive the three lumiy probes are and that they are no longer made and that I just sold one of my personal pieces for $125.00 with free shipping.... Now I have three of the ones in his kit... Seems to me that $375.00 right there. I talked to calvin about the cost... He felt I was selling them way to low so. I have 4 of them if I include what I have in this messed up meter so I can make plenty-o-money... If I close to.... I'm thinking he has finally understood this point and wants this back. Tis a big deal in this side of the country... How do I handle some person thats not clearly thinking and has misrepresented an item on ebay.... I'm thinking he knows he is in trouble big time there..... We will see what I'm going to add to all this. I don't like fighting for whats rightfully mine. All this buying of these meters is for the forum. I'm trying to get several "working" meters so I cann rent them out to members with the injection pump turning tools and wrenches so they can time there motors. I'm not perfect but really close..... So I'm told from time to time...:bs

If it ends up with you keeping the stuff and decide to sell the probes please put me down for another one. That way I can get both of my MT480 meters working again.
