June vacation

I will be gone almost all of June to Europe with the wife, she is bent on going this year and she is paying, soooooo. I will most likely be unavailable for stuff.

Yeah, where are you going? Sounds like a fun trip...I went over there 2 years ago this June and completely fell in love with the place (especially Britain, Germany, and Austria)...I want to go back as soon as finances allow

I would love to go to Scotland/Ireland/England someday - some of the scenery pictures I have seen are just jaw dropping awesome. Ah if I had money falling out my .... wallet, I would be a traveler.

Sounds like a good trip, Russ. Start your planning now. Read travel books, decide what you want to see. Will you have a car, and be able to go where and when you want? Be careful, they drive n the wrong side of the road.

I set up a walking tour of Part of London years ago for a friend visiting there. It involved several miles of walking, if I recall, so mobility is a must. I'll try to find it, if you'd like. Don't try to drive around London--It's a bit like LA, with an accent. For London, buy an A--Z map book, and have a good tube map. We liked the rest of England every bit as much, and Scotland even more. We camped a night or two on the shores of Loch Ness, but didn't get to see Nessie. If you have a chance to see the Edinbourgh Military Tattoo, do it. http://www.edintattoo.co.uk/

There's just so much to see, and their sense of history is so much greater than anything we have.

I didn't have a chance to get to Ireland, so I can't make suggestions there. They were having The Troubles when I spent time over that way.

That's an understatement according to the lady guiding my tour of London, the average speed of a car in downtown London is a whopping 5 miles per hour while you'd certainly want a car for everything else, I would recommend relying on the Underground while in London. The good news is, there are stops near most of the major tourist attractions...granted I didn't have time to see everything (one reason why I need to go back!!), but the only serious walking I did in London was when we went to find the Abbey Road studios. Also, there are escalators/elevators at every Underground station...I can't say the same thing for the Metro in Paris
