Intake silencer mod 03 3500

I just bought a afe intake kit at a local swap meet for $100 for my 03 3500
4wd crew drw.Thought it was a pretty good deal? Noticed a little better mpg about 17mpg mostly hi-way. Anyways when i was shopping for intakes online i noticed some went all the way to the turbo and some didnt (mine didnt go all the way to the turbo), also noticed the price difference. When i was installing my intake i noticed the crosshair/silencer piece in the hard plastic intake tube. It was bugging me for a couple days since i saw that afe made a strait threw piece for almost $100. No way was i gonna pay $100 for a plastic piece of tube. so i cut my silencer out using a sawzall. Now i can really hear my turbo sing. I love it. ill let you know if i gained any mpg, not expecting to see much on this tank of fuel because ive been listening to my turbo. . but ill keep you posted. Has anyone else done this mod?

If you wanna hear that turbo even more take the silencer ring out of that turbo!

Do you think taking the silencer ring out of my turbo is hurting my fuel mileage?

no it doesnt add any power or take away from fuel mileage just makes the turbo whistle a little louder
