Install tips for dummies like myself

Ok I got my new vacuum pump installed and what a difference it makes going from woreout to new.
What I discovered.
Don't try and be slick like I did and install new pully on your new pump the night before you actually remove the old one only to discover that the bolts won't back out all the way with the pully installed.

Oil filter chain wrench works great for holding the pully while removing or installing without damaging it.

All said and done my brakes work like they never have since I bought the truck. My pump just gradully got worse to the point I was using the brake pedal as a leg press every day. My ac finally stuck on defrost but now it quickly goes to vent.

Did u fill it with STP oil treatment before install...????

they will if you have a v-belt pulley

No I looked and looked for a place to add oil but it was all sealed up. It read on the paper work do not add oil and once I fired up the engine after installing it had a little bit of oil that blew out of the top vent holes so I know there is oil in it.

Yeah I forgot to mention I have the serpentine belt set up not v belt.

I got it through oem select and its a doorman pump supposedly brand new not refurbished.

IIRC, Dorman = Hecho en China.......

Sure, a third the price of the Motorcraft, but...... IMHO, not a part to save a few bucks on....

For the most part, if it's not electrical, Dorman is okay for some stuff.
Their bellowed up pipes for the SD powerstroke are great.

Correction senior. They are made in Argentina lol. That would be South America mi amigo.

Oh yeah, lest not forget, majority of Motorcraft stuff is foreign also.
