Inline heater hose, heater

For those of yall who dont care to use the block heater, You can get an inline heater where you splice the heater hoses and put a device that looks like an electronic fuel pump that has a plug on it. I bought one and it will be here today, it was only $50.00 and it is 1000W. I will have it on by tonight so I will let yall know how it works.

I had one of those in a 79 Ramcharger. It worked pretty good. One of the easiest coolant heaters to install.

Syscostang, how did you hook it up? I think I did it wrong, I put it on the hose that goes to the water pump, so it really only warmed up that area of water....

I am interested in this product... does it actually have a pump to circulate the coolant? If so, maybe your is not kicking on for some reason? Do you have a maker/ model # to look up? Thanks

For those to work the best you need to drain the coolant and install a pipe nipple on either side of the block. Curculate the coolant out one side and in the other. They loose alot of heat through the heater core and or radiator depending how they are plumbed into existing lines.

They do not have a pump in them they work off of a thermo siphon.

I honestly can't remember, it was about 12 years ago. Pretty sure I just had it plumbed into the heater lines.

yeah I just plumbed it in the lines too. It did comw with a plastice Y connector but I wasn't sure how to install that.

I wouldn't think it would work very well without a pump, I saw some on ebay with a pump. I was planning on installing one when I rig my truck for WVO that way I could heat up my coolant before I left and switch over to wvo a bit quicker.

It works well with the heat convection. They work great on the tractors since they are quick to install and you don't have to drain the system like block heaters. Especially nice when replacing an existing dead heater in the middle of winter.

I have one that came on my spare motor and it's plumbed into the lower radiator hose. I'll have to look to see what watt size it is. And as I may be moving to a warmer climate, I won't be needing it, so it may be up for grabs....
