my very own hell
When I got my truck it had the ignition cylinder removed, apparently the linkage rod snapped and the PO had a friend remove the lock so he can turn the wheel and they also pulled the ignition switch and let it hang under the dashboard so you manually move the slider in it with a key or something and get the truck to start. I have since then removed the factory ignition switch and replaced it with two good-quality US-made toggle switches, so starting the truck is now easy and convenient. Problem is, I want to have the steering wheel lock feature back, just for a piece of mind - how easy is it to install a new ignition cylinder, and will it work for locking the steering wheel even with the linkage for the ignition switch removed?

If you are mechanically inclined, it is fairly easy. Should not be a problem to do as you want. There are several write-ups on this for the tilt column, also the fixed column. Had no trouble when I did mine for a broken switch lever.
