I'm having a front bumper designed and mfg'd for my truck that'll be made out of some monsterous C-Channel. I was thinking more and more an intercooler would work well, integrated into the bumper design. Has anyone designed something into the bumper area so there was more room under the hood? My very crude attempt at a drawing is attached; basically I was thinking of mounting the intercooler at an angle, facing downward, partially below the front bumper. Below the bumper would be some sort of an angled cage to protect the IC from road damage and such. The cage on the face of it woudl have something like expanded metal. I think the only thing I might have to worry about is if I were to drive into a snow bank or something?
The guys running larger intercoolers, what are the dimensions of these things?
In my pic, the RED box is the intercooler, the dark black boxes are the bumper. Gotta love my drawing skills dont ya?
