The taillight ground on my 90 F250 was screwed into the frame at the very last crossover piece on the driver side, right behind the rear fuel tank.

It could be your headlight switch has gone bad. Might need to check it first. I have had that same problem.

You sure you checked the correct fuse?

Do your brake lights work?
Do your rear running lights work?
Do your dash lights work?

If yes to brake lights, no to running lights, and no to dash lights...that was my situation.
Fuse #4 (upper right most fuse, 15A) fixed the problem.

Yes, fuse #4 was blown. Working one day, broken the next...OK, I was fiddling with the headlight switch at the time, but the fuse was blown.

Rear running lights...the ones on the rear of the truck that turn on when you have the headlights on. At night with the headlights on, the rear of my truck was dark, nothing. Brake lights continued to work, but the running lights did not.

You can just ground it temporarily and see if it is getting any juice, I would think only powered wires run to the fuse box not grounds.

There should be a black wire in the harness which IIRC has it's own separate connector. The connectors for the rear harness are located drivers side directly behind the rear bumper. It may be possible that the connector has corroded and has lost contact.
