Knuckledragger
blowing chunks and grabbing porcelain
I'm rebuilding my 6.9 and have the freeze plugs out for hot tanking the block. I read the tech article about how to replace them, but have not been able to get the special tool from Rotunda. They say the earliest ship date is March 22. I would like to be driving the truck by then.
So, does anyone have the installation tool (OTC #303-D045) that I can buy, borrow, or rent? I'll get it back to you right away if it is a loan or rental.
Thanks!
17 FEB update: I ordered it from Rotunda for $134.83. I have other things to worry about now, so waiting for the tool is not an issue.
OK, now I need a different tool. It is called a "tube replacer" and is for installing the piston oiling tubes pressed into the block at the bottom of each cylinder (rotunda/OTC number 303-D048A, North American number D83T-6134A). Rotunda no longer has them and isn't going to get any more. I could try to make one, but using the right tool is so much easier in the long run. Oh yeah, I need the replacement tubes as well.
Thanks again!
