the problem with bolting the adapter plate on is, there is nothing to bolt it too,4 of the six bolt holes are on the broken piece there are only 2 remaining on the tranny and they are the lower drivers side holes.

Ok, it got welded up and finished yesterday.....The sucky part is that I had left not 10 minutes before the welding shop wheeled it over on the flat-cart. It's ok...lifting that heavy thing first thing yesterday was not kind to my sissy of a back and now I'm really sore...I almost couldn't move yesterday evening. I used the trolley hoist to lift it onto a workbench and drained the trans fluid out of it......I had to do the sniff test to make sure that no one had filled with WMO as it was soooo black. Just ordered some ND 30W, a PSD oil filter and some engine oil. While I'm not doing an oil change at this time I figure a new filter won't hurt as from what I've been told, it hasn't been changed in around 2-3 years. I lose about 2.5 quarts every three weeks so I'm goin the shadetree way of things and just changing the filter then topping everything off. Waiting on the goods right now from the parts store but gonna leave the trans dry until I get home and get it installed to save some weight. It's nice having access to air tools, trolley hoists and a FREE welding shop.

Got it in about 45 minutes ago and went for a test drive after my shower. What a difference ND30W makes in shifting and the noise...Thanks Mel, you inadvertently talked me into that and I'm glad I did it. Everything is kosher for now so we'll see in the long run.
