I went to Pick-n-Pull yesterday looking for a couple minor parts for various cars. I had a list, and checked things off as I found them, taking note of where they were. Then, at the very back end of the lot (of course), I found an '89 F-Superduty with a large service body. It had a 7.3 engine, and a ZF5. Somebody had already ***** the engine, or tried. The entire fuel filter was missing. The IP was there, but many of it's parts were missing. There were 3 injector lines left. The 3 rear facing nuts were removed, but the 3 hidden under the front were still there. I guess the guy couldn't figure out how to remove them.
What really caught my attention was the hydroboost system. It was all there. I called Calvin to verify what I needed, and went to work. It took me 3 or 4 times as long as most to remove the entire hydroboost system, but I finally got it all off. I'll attach pictures.
The whole thing about killed me. By the time I was done I think I had heat stroke. I couldn't catch my breath, and my mouth felt like I was chewing on duct tape. I'd quit sweating, and could barely stand. A very nice man offered to help me when he saw my condition. He ended up pushing the hydroboost unit and tools all the way out to my car. I'm honestly not sure I could have made it without him. I drank a bootle of water and was able to drive home. I cleaned up a bit, and slept for 3 hours.
The bottom line is that I have a hydroboost system. I'll have to replace the tank on the powersteering pump. Re-using the one from the superduty is not recommended. Other than that, I think I have everything. Calvin told me that my pedal will work. The grand total cost? I paid $49.63. For that I got a master cylinder (1 5/16), the the brake fluid tank, the hydroboost unit, the section which goes through the firewall and attaches to the brake pedal, 2 high pressure lines, and a return line. That should be everythin you can see in the pictures. I think I got a pretty good deal.
Lessons learned. Always eat before going to Pick-n-Pull. Always take water in with me.
For those interested, This was at the Monterey Road Pick-n-Pull in San Jose. The ZF5 is still there, and the IP is still there. Or at least they were when I staggered out.

But once again there way no paper but a piece on the messy floor about 2 ft long... So I used my shirt by cutting off pieces of it... Note to self.. Never go in the wrecking yards with a good shirt on... One never knows when it may end up doing double duty....
Nice find and for the price you did very well. Now your half way there. Just install it... Bleed the system and enjoy the double amount of brake pressure you have. these hyfroboost brakes more than double the line perssure in the systems. Its about 2200 lbs now.
