Can anybody think of a reason that I couldn't use a hydraulic oil tank to hold an extra 25 gallons of fuel? It's 12 gauge steel with a built in filter, it has built in flanges to bolt on to the back of my flatdeck. It also has a built in temp guage and a gauge to tell how full it is. I'm thinking I would plumb it into the front tank. I'm not sure of the best way to do that. Anybody know if this is a good/bad idea? Thanks.

As long as You plan on using regular diesel on it all should be good (not so for wvo/biodiesel) and to plumb it on the fuel system You can add a fuel selector valve (2- 3port valves) and switch it to the aux tank every time the fss on the frame rail is on the front tank (Your choise) .

If it has had clean hydraulic fluid in it, just dump in the diesel and take off.

It will mix with the fluid and burn it, too.
