I have my axle out and need to replace the seal. Looking at the pictures is this what I need to do to replace the seal?

-remove the nut with the special tool
-does that allow me to pull the whole end off and access the seal?
-replace the seal
-reassemble
-done?
-Any other special tools, special torque

Do I need to apply a lot of torque with the special tool in the picture, or could I make my own buy cutting a large socket and leaving four protrusions? Could I remove the nut if my self made tool didn't have the center guide that fits inside the hole the shaft came out of.

Thanks,

The special tool makes life a while lot easier. You need to put pressure toward the nut to remove and install it. I know there is a torque spec and then back it off so many clicks. Don't remember what the specs were. Buck up and buy the socket, You will use it down the road.

Tighten hub nut 55-65 lb-ft. Back off 8 clicks (1/6 turn). Rotate hub while torquing. It says there are right hand and left hand threads.
