how to install thermostat

Which way do you put the thermostat in? i didnt pay attention when i pulled it out, do the spring go down in the block or up in the water neck?

spring goes inside the block on gassers. the pointy part goes towards water neck lol. that is on a gasser dk about a diesel

the pointy part goes up the cylinder goes down its very easy just dont over silicone the bypass port

silicone is a bad sealer there anyway, it can shear from the thermal differences and cause leaks, a smear of liquid permatex or hylomar is the best.

Oh and the pellet, copper colored thing, goes to the hot water an all engines.

i just used the gasket didnt use any other sealant, i put the springs in the block did i do wrong? i done it before i came and checked this thread so do i need to go back and change it or am i ok?
