high performance cam

now im not for sure if this is the same size as stock, or a bigger cam. anyone ever heard of it?

That is just a stock profile OEM replacement cam. If you want a performance cam for this engine, you are going to have to get it ground that way somewhere.

what do you mean by get it ground?

You can get a cam "ground" to different specs. Some machine shops can take your cam and weld it up and grind it back down to whatever you specify. You need to know what works and is good for your engine rather than just guessing so it is a little involved but I believe someone had some specs for a performance cam a little while back.

I know there is a place here in KY that custom grinds cams for pulling tractors, I am sure if you gave them the specs they could grind an IDI cam for performance.

I will have to get back to you on the name of the shop but I think it is Cornett Machine Shop in Somerset, that can custom grinds cams. I am about 30 minutes from Lexington too.
