i am full of questions lately it seems, question is can i disengage the high idle? it seems to stay on way too long now, and keeps the idle way to high..
The cold timing advance is also powered when the idle up solenoid is, so if that is staying on too long then so is the timing advance. Not good for the glow plugs....
It should turn off when the coolant temp hits 120°. If it isn't the temp switch located behind the alt and thermostat neck may be internally shorted. Living in Florida, the simple solution would be to just unplug it. Shouldn't really need it until it gets to about 40-45° outside....
it used to stay on for about i would guess about 2 mins.. this morning i thought it wasn't gonna shut off, i bet it was on for 5 minutes.. granted we did actually have a frost this morning and about 40 deg weather..
how do i adjust the high idle, truck has factory tach, and the high idle kept it at like 1200-1300 this morning..
nothing wrong with that. after a day of sitting in the cold at work(~25*F+windchill) my cold idle/cold advance with stay on for 15 minutes. honestly though even in 40 deg my cold idle will stay on for about 10 min. you can set up a manual control for it. there is a write up somewhere on that.
do you have an aftermarket water temp gauge? mine kicks off right when the water temp hist 123*F.
you also live in Florida though where it cools down rather than gets cold. there is a diff lol.
There is the lever on the right side of the IP that the cable from the go pedal attches that lever also contacts the high idle soleniod there is a copper colored rod coming out of the high idle soleniod and that rod has a bolt head shape to it that you could put a wrench or socket on and depending which way you turn it it will increase or decrease the idle.
