Have a 1990 F350 7.3 been chasing fuel leaks for past couple month and had got it down to bottom of injector filter only. Had new part already but had not put it on. Started it and headed out to horse show, it just died about 5 miles into trip. Open hood and fuel was pouring out of the bottom of that filter. Changed part, filled the filter with fuel we poured out and tried to start. No go. Towed it home and tried to bleed fuel system. Have air bubbles and some fuel at each injector but will not fire. Is there a test for the Injector pump? Tested the fuel cut off and it does click. New batteries. :dunno

Did you fill the new filter up or put it on dry?

You gotta get all the air out. Go to walmart and get a outboard engine fuel primer bulb and tie that into the fuel hose that feeds the lift pump. the lift pump is on the block below the fuel filter.

After pushing all the air out it should fire. Make sure the batteries are on full charge. A slow crank makes a tired engine hard to start too.

this truck does not have a lift pump, instead has an electric one on the frame by tanks....is there a sure test to tell if injector pump is cause or air?????

Well if you are getting fuel to the injectors then you have other problems. unless you are sucking air before the pump, an air intrusion problem wont really affect you other than a cold start.

So if you have gotten all the leaks taken care of, then yes you may have a bad injection pump.

So you have done the return line correct (caps, o-rings and fuel hose)? What about the olives? On my truck I have 3. they are on the hard fuel lines under the brass fitting on both sides of the filter head and the inlet to the inj. pump.

The next question is how many miles are on the injection pump?
