Help... hard starting t444e aka powerstroke

got a international with a stroker in it and having intermitten problems with it starting. sometimes in starts and others is just cranks. when it runs it runs great and that would lead me to rule out the cam sensor. the high pressure oil pump on the other hand i feel may be suspect. i hate this engine and i'm not sure which way to diag the problem.

any help would be most greatly accepted.

I don't know a LOT about PSD's but is the HPOP reservoir full? I am not sure how to check it, but I often hear about the HPOP reservoir running low and causing problems.

Maybe the glow plugs are getting bad? I got my doubts, but a possibility. It should start fairly well cold without plugs as it is a direct injection engine, unlike my IDI which NEEDS GP's to start.

You need to check to make sure the GPR is actually closing and capable of handling the load - is your WTS light working? Is the tach bouncing while you crank it?
