I have a 1994 ford f250 with the 7.3 idi, I retimed my truck a while back and has been running good, but recently it’s been starting hard especially after it’s sat for a bout a half hour after driving it. I confirmed the timing is correct, there is no drain back, the glow plugs are working , and the compression is 370-380psi. Is there a good way to test for a weak injection pump in the truck without having it tested at an injection shop. The truck has 122,000 miles and looks to be the original injection pump. Anything helps, thanks.

Try pouring cool water over the front of the Pump
to see if that helps. As the Pumps wear the tolerance`s
are are not as tight. When you shut off the hot engine
the Pump gets heat soaked. The cool water tightens things
up a bit.

If that helps, then a new IP is in your future.
It`s mentioned they are good for 150K miles or so.
If you do need to replace it, replace the Injectors also.

Do not buy at the corner auto parts store or off E-Bay.
Few vendors highly recommended here on the Forum.
