Head bolts ?

Where can I get new replacement head bolts ? Other wise do I have to go to the head studs I'm on a tight budget and might have to reuse my old bolts

I assume this is on the 6.9? I know you are on a budget, but if it were me, I would really be trying to find a way to get some funds together and buy the ARP stud kit. With the 7/16" head bolts the 6.9 has, it can really benefit from the added strength of the studs. Do it once and do it right. I certainly understand if you have to choose between studs and eating, but the studs would seem to be the best bang for your buck for longevity with your build. I checked Rockauto and the were out of new head bolts for the 6.9 right now. Maybe your local International dealer?

I've tried every where to find new bolts for my 6.9 and all I can find is the stud kit. And everyone I call and talk to said regardless of the turbo change to the studs.because the bolts could be why my gaskets started leaking. Im just stuck because I'm not going to be paying for them my grandfather is. But I get doing it right.

Someone just posted about studs the other day for under $300. If you could even find OEM head bolts, it'd probably be about the same price.

That was me ha. I found studs for under 300 but I don't have the money scine I had to buy new heads. But I'm hearing even from the mechanic shops not to use the bolts again

Everybody is telling you to go with studs on the 6.9. I'd agree. But economics suck sometimes

Bolt part # was acquired from RockAuto. They are out of stock, no guarantees on the other two, but they said they were in stock.

That's probably because most newer engines use stretch to yield bolts.
And with all the issues shops seen with the 6.0 powerstroke.
For something like the heads, I wouldn't reuse them unless they were brand new and I had just put them in.
I just saw studs on ebay for $250.
I believe I saw some stockers for $120.

There are lots of engines out there, even some with TTY bolts, that it is perfectly acceptable to reuse bolts. 6.9 headbolts just are too small/stretchy. I have yet to pull heads off of a 6.9 without breaking atleast 1 bolt. I have seen plenty that had broken bolts when I pulled the valve covers off.

Make sure you chase all the headbolt hole threads.

I was able to get them out with out braking them but that doesn't mean that they are not streched. That's could be why I had a leak. And there is signs of the motor being rebuilt before
