i'm brand new to diesels, just got an 89 f250 extcab, 4x4, 5spd, 7.3l all stock with 236k on the clock. i put about 200 miles on it, then it started acting up. as i'm decelerating, at about 1500 rpms and just let off the accel., the truck started to shimmy pretty rough until i hit the accel again. that was sat night. sunday morn, it was really hard to start. it would crank fine, but just wouldnt fire. finally got it going, then as i was coming to a stop at my folks' place, it died. i haven't been able to start it since. i was running off the front tank, at about half full, then tried switching to the rear (completely full) with no change. as i was cranking though, fuel started to back out of the filler cap??? i've never heard of anything like it before. i know the fuel pump and filter are new. i disconnected the fuel line before and after the filter and then turned it over and i got pretty good flow both times, the flow after the filter was a bit less than before it. any ideas? anyone ever heard of the fuel backing out the filler cap like this? sorry for such a long post, but hopefully you'll can help a guy out!!!
