Hard starting issue

As of the past 4 days since getting bellow freezing my 83 6.9 has started hard starting. It will start right off (after the glow plugs go off)for about 4 seconds then die like there was air in the lines, even though I've eliminated the lift pump for a faucet duralift, but when it go to try to start it again it cranks fast very little white smoke out the exhaust but doesn't actually fire
- all glow plugs tested good with test light
-electric fuel pump work good
- redid return lines with clear line
I would appreciate any help as this one has me stumped

When was your last fuel filter change?

Mind did the same thing there was little bit of air in the filter head.

Replaced filter about 2 months ago and when I pressed in the Schraeder valve before starting it today there was fuel right there

Does anyone know if the schrader valve is inline before or after the filter media?
