I ordered 3 new glow plugs and went to pick them up today and they were the wrong ones. They were the blade style for a 6.9 (Beru 0 100 271 102)

The ones that I took out are Beru 0 100 271 101

Can anyone help me and tell me what year those plugs are for so I can order the correct ones from Ford.

Ford cannot cross reference the part # etched into the glow plugs they sell.

Thanks

83-86 used the blade style, part number is ZD1A (there may be an E Ford part number too)

87-94 IDI used the bullet style, part number is ZD9 (ditto)

the blade style went from 1984 to 1987 for the 6.9, then in 1988 the 7.3 came out with the bullet style plugs and lasted to 1994.

No, they're still 6V. They just use bullet heads. As far as I know anyway. I have a full set of ZD9's on my 86, and it takes 5 seconds max with a push button to start my rig. I doubt they'd heat up that fast to fire over a diesel at 40 degrees if they were 12V. pretty sure I read here though that the ZD9's are 6V.

Although there were upgrades, the gp's remained 6 volt throught the IDI run. Believe it or not, Ford/International rated this system to operate down to -14degF without the aid of a block heater so usually there are a few gp's not working when a problem arises. I can personally attest to single digit start ups without the block heater. Just order ones for a '93 to keep it simple as the PSD was introduced in mid '94 in front of zf 5 speeds.
