Wreckles/jordan's Tonka toy finally got it's 1st gen Banks turbo kit installed. good thing for him was he put in a 2in body lift and that gave him all the room in the world to keep from beating the crap out of his firewall. turbo pedestal and Y-pipe is hard mounted, the turbo and the downpipe is still lose-fit to make sure clearances was there. I'll let the pics tell the story....

Hope to be doing the same to mine in a couple months! About got all the parts gathered and waiting on warmer weather and my turbo to be rebuilt! I put the 2" body lift on mine too, so I hope to have all the room I need. I did massage the firewall flange while I had the tranny out for the ZF5 swap (thanks for the parts) and hopefully that will give me plenty of wiggle room!

I have no love for the Banks kits with y-pipe(like this one) it is a straight up bear to wrestle it up into place. The heat had warped the pipe mounts to where you had to spread them apart to get them to fit into the exhaust manifolds. it also helped to drop the front driveshaft so you could have more room for wiggling. see how close the pipe is to the driveshaft? good part is no firewall beating

That a C6? Mine isnt the close to the driveshaft....

I totally agree on the pipes fitting.... It was such a huge pain to put both of them in place and i hope i never have to take them out again..... Unfortunatly i have to pull the trans eventually....

When it comes to squeezing turbo pipes in, it's all pretty much greek unless you've played with the same kit. THey all turn into a zero clearance mess when it's all said and done, just some are harder to get there than others

The crossover pipe looks different, mine goes manifold to manifold, then has a pipe coming off on the dside, about 3" in diameter that comes up to the turbo. I'm doubting I use it anyway, as it has been cut. I'll probably have one fabbed up, would prefer it come up the passenger side like the one banks shows for the ZF5 anyway.

Turbo pedalstool and outlet pipe look pretty similar though.

Not really. Exhaust pipes need to go on with trans installed. Everything really needs to be in place to get proper fitment.
