I'm gonna have to totally rework the fuel system in my '92 ex-gasser that I'm installing my 6.9 into. In the mean time, I'd like to drive around with a marine fuel tank to get me by.

I've got an electric pump, and I was going to put two steel pickups into the bottom of this outboard motor fuel tank. One for supply, one for return. On the return line, will having just a free flowing open line do it? Do I need to place any restriction on it? Will I have issues with my fuel system draining back into the tank after each shut off?

Keep all the original fuel system up at the engine, and it shouldn't drain back to the tank. The factory lines were free flow, but some did have check valves, and some didn't. Here's some info on the subject of check valves, down in the middle of this link.
