That kit and the return line kit are probably some of the first things I'll get then, right behind new motorcraft glow plugs.

Anyone have an opinion on GP Sorensen injectors? Or duralast for that matter. I won't be able to do $500 for new injectors right off the bat. Whatever I get will pretty well stay stock for awhile, aside from fuel lines if I have to crack them open.

Get the injectors from Mel at Conastoga Diesel also. He pop tests them and they will be matched within 50 psi IIRC.
Check wires from fender solenoid to glow plug controller while your in there, they like to melt and become a problem.

Unfortunately, we have found that with injectors and injection pumps, you get what you pay for. And, they are about to get even more expensive. Delphi, which was the major manufacturer still left for our injectors, has ceased production, and they were less expensive new than what it takes to rebuild a proper working set. Cheap rebuilds have a tendency to be nothing more than taken apart and cleaned....not a true matched rebuilt set.

Mel Bought in bulk, then pop matched each of his sets to within 50 pounds per set. This is important for your timing.

You would be money ahead to not buy cheap rebuilds, save your money, deal with a rough running tuck what you have by running a good quality fuel treatment through it, and only buy new injectors once.

As I said though, sooner than later because they are no longer going to be available new, and GOOD rebuilds will have a higher price tag.

Picture of the tee at the rear of the drivers side head. This is off a 94 model 7.3 engine.

I have mine all routed to one of the ports and the other side is blocked off. I blocked off the side that goes to the passenger side bank because of the heat from the turbo and ease of running the system that way. I am also running 3/16th line for my return system. The 3/16th system has one dead end cap that I used on the rear passenger side and routed all the return fuel forward on that side, mother crossed over at the front of the engine, then rearward on the passenger slide. I liked the straight through return caps as opposed to the offset caps of the 1/4'inch system.

I'm looking at a lot lower price range for now. I looked at those earlier and they'll be going on the wish list.

I can sell you remans. I don't make them in-house, as it's just more cost effective for me to buy them from someone who makes a ton of them. I also try NOT to sell them, because I honestly believe they are not a good value. Figure it this way... you buy a set of reman's. Let's say they are $250 or so. You put them in, and you put a new return line kit on them, at $50. That's $300 you've spent. You drive them for a year or so, and one of them starts to crap out on you. You can't quite seem to figure out which on it is, so you pull them all out and get them pop tested. That's another $50. You find the bad one, and they sell you another one, and it's $40 so your now out. Your up to $390 now, in a years time. You put them back in (and since you saved your copper washers from your original install kit, your OK there), but now you've got a return line leaking. You mess around with that for a while, and maybe you get it to quit leaking. Maybe you don't. You might break down and get another return line kit, for $50. Your at $440 now. But let's not forget your out about 3 hours of labor, a bit of gas from running around and so forth. I wonder how long until another one gives you a problem? $440 is what a set of BB's will cost as of April 1st, and those will last you a decade or more, with no fuss, and no muss. Seems like a lot of trouble to save one or two hundred bucks.

Unfortunately, unless I can get the truck for significantly less than the advertised price, I'm not going to be able to afford it for awhile. Still have a Bronco that was suppose to get a floor, door, fender and tailgate before it got cold this pay winter (first on the list) and then my current truck needs the SAS finished and done electrical attention.

However, this may not matter if the guy doesn't follow through with our meeting this weekend :dunno

Looks like we'll indeed be going to check it out Sunday. Although he's bumped the price, now saying that with the offers he's gotten and the time/money invested he would rather keep it. So if it passes all criteria and checks, I'll be out $4500 and have a truck that hopefully just needs glow plugs for now (or less).

Ended up not getting it. Started and drove fine, but he had the pump tien up enough to idle at 1000 rpm because of the shaky idle at lower engine speeds and it was leaking fuel down the drivers side exhaust crossover. So we'll keep looking.

Keep lookin!

There are good ones out there. Sounds like this one needed an injection pump. That is quite common too. A lot of these trucks will need a pump, which isn't a problem if you don't pay a premium up front. If you can get it with a little room to work with, you are good.
