Fuel leak found hard lines suspect

Ok wrenched on the truck a while this afternoon and here is my conclusion thus far. The turbo feed was leaking from where it goes into the turbo so I took that apart and resealed it all. Being that the the turbo is above the valley pan some of the oil goes in the valley pan the rest goes everywhere else. This leads to the second problem and point of this post. My valley pan is full of fuel and oil. This is what is causing the 2' puddle under the truck. So far best I can tell is I have multiple hard lines leaking. I put all new injectors and return lines on it already so I know its not that. What I am afraid of is that putting in the new injectors and disturbing the hard lines made it so they won't seal up for what ever reason. Everything is good and tight. I have 3 lines at the pump that are wet, one of them being the main feed line from the filter. I have 2 that are wet at the injector. The other thing that I still have yet to figure out is if the pump itself is leaking. So my question is do we have a good source for new hard lines? I am thinking just get all 8 and rule that out. The source I had here in town doesn't have anymore and its $40 a pop to order them last time I checked. Not really sure what all my options are at this point but at least I am getting somewhere.

i have 2 compelet sets for a 6.9. Also i am coverting my truck to 6.9 hard lines. If you want them PM me.

i have to ask why 6.9 hard lines what's the gain aren't they the same

Do you have the vibration clamps/dampners/hold downs....whatever they are called. With that many lines cracked I'd be surprised if you do. Take it from me if you don't have those you will be replacing hard lines forever. Before I put those on the lines would always crack right where the big nut connects to the injector. Alot of the time the crack was so small I couldn't see it after I would have the line off. But they sure leaked like a son of a gun. Check ebay for lines or on here....but $40 isn't bad either....around here I've never paid less than $50. Anyways before you throw your money away make sure you've got the clamps.

My "new to me" 1986 has a leak on the #5 line. My IP was rebuilt by these guys according to the tag on it.

I have all 4 clamps on. They have always been on to my knowledge and there were no leaks when I bought it that is why I am thinking that when I changed the injectors that is why started the problem. 91IDI I'll PM ya in a bit.

I found out if you use the 6.9 lines, you have to take off the timing adapter on the #1 injector on a 7.3. Apparently the 6.9 engines didn't use the piezo electric or whatever it is pressure sensor timing tool to time the engine like a 7.3.

So you just unscrew the adapter and then the 6.9 line fits fine. I found all this out because I was working on the injectors about a year ago, and I did leave one of the clamps off. About 300 miles from my house on the first vacation with my slide in camper, the engine developed a miss, and when I pulled over, the #1 injector line was leaking at the pump. I tried to tighten it and that's when I found out it had broken off. No one has these lines in stock, so what I ended up doing was taking the line off and reversed it, and then I bent the line over near to the #1 injector, and took the rubber return line off #1 and slipped it over the injector line. I didn't know if the return system would handle all that fuel from the injector line, but it did, and I drove it all the way to Pensacola Florida on 7 cylinders.

When I got to Pensacola, I found out these diesel trucks are not laying around much in the junkyards, but I finally found a guy who had a couple of 6.9 diesel engines in his storage area, and he let me have the #1 line off it.

So whatever you do, make sure the injector lines have those clamps on them. If you have some that are seeping a little bit, you might have to give them a little extra tug with a wrench to stop the leak.

Well it sounds like 91 IDI is going to be able to help me out with a set off a 7.3 so I should be good to go. Beauty of being a truck driver is I'll be out his way this week so I should be able to meet him and just pick them up. Hopefully thats all thats leaking but I will no more on WED.
